Engineering Manager – Infrastructure & Cloud (gn)

Your mission

At Wandelbots, we are building an open platform to manage and operate industrial shopfloors. We are looking for an Engineering Manager – Infrastructure & Cloud to lead and grow the team building the foundation powering NOVA and its future evolution.

In this role, you will lead and develop our infrastructure and cloud team, creating an environment of ownership, autonomy, and accountability. Your primary focus is to build a high-performing team and enable them to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure systems.

You will align your team with company goals, create clarity in ambiguous situations, and remove blockers to drive execution. You will coach engineers, provide direct feedback, and support their growth and performance.

You will also provide technical guidance across cloud and distributed systems, working closely with senior engineers to shape architecture and establish strong practices in observability, automation, and operations. In addition, you will take ownership of security and compliance topics, ensuring best practices such as encryption, secure networking, and access control are embedded into our systems and processes, including in the context of ISO 27001 or TISAX.

Over time, you may expand your scope to include the Nova Developer Experience team, improving tooling and workflows for programming robots.

Your profile

Must Have

  • Experience managing software engineering teams

  • Proven ability to foster environments of ownership, autonomy, and continuous improvement

  • Experience aligning engineering teams with company goals and product priorities

  • Ability to create clarity and drive execution in ambiguous situations

  • Proven track record of identifying and removing blockers to enable teams to deliver effectively

  • Experience providing clear, actionable feedback and actively managing performance, including handling underperformance

  • Proven ability to hire, develop, and grow engineers

  • Servant leadership mindset with a focus on enabling others

  • Strong background in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform development

  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms and cloud-native systems (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes)

  • Experience with system design, reliability, and scalability

  • Understanding of security best practices (e.g. networking, encryption, access control)

  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

  • Strong communication skills in German and English


Nice to Have

  • Experience with ISO 27001, TISAX, or similar compliance frameworks

  • Experience leading multiple teams or expanding organizational scope

  • Exposure to developer platforms, SDKs, or internal tooling

  • Background in robotics, automation, or industrial software

  • Experience working with distributed or remote teams
